Full sheets are used to cover interior ceilings and walls. It's sometimes used as an underlay for ceramic tiles. It has a fire rating of approximately 30 minutes, and offers reasonable soundproofing, especially when installed in two layers.
Hanging boards can be heavy work, but not overly difficult for professionals. It ranges from 1/4" to 5/8" in

thickness, with 1/2," which is the most common in residential work. The sheets are normally 4 feet wide and 8, 10 or 12 feet long, conforming to standard measuring increments.

Techniques for Drywall Installation

A panel lifter allows you to raise a panel an inch off the floor while keeping your hands free. This device is used when installing a wall panel that’s close to the floor. 
2. Using a Panel Jack or Hoist
A panel jack is a real life saver when it comes to drywalling ceilings. By mounting a panel and lifting it into position, you have an effortless way to provide ceiling-panel installation.
3. Using Stilts
Shoe stilts take some time to get used and they can be dangerous. But when used by experts, they can provide easy access and mobility to high areas when hanging the drywall.
Some drywall comes pre-finished in different colors, patterns, and textures. Some drywalls are vinyl-coated.

What does finishing mean? It commonly refers to how ready the product is to be painted or glossed. Unfinished boards have been hung but no taping or mudding has occurred and certainly no paint. 

What does taping mean? It just means taping over the joints or gaps after to mudding or joint compound has been applied. Most often a second coat of joint compound is applied. 

What are the different thickness of sheet rock? It usually come in 4 x 8 feet. The most common thickness can be between 3/8 and 1/2 inch. These sheets come in various types such as fire resistant which are mainly used where electrical or gas appliance or units are installed. The other types are moisture or mold resistant boards for humid and damp places.

What is the purpose of Primer? It is really the final step before painting is introduced. A coat of primer goes over the paper and the mud to seal or make a smooth even surface that makes painting conditions so much easier.
